Privacy & AI

Who I am. This website is run by Ian Cheng, based in London. I am responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: ian@artificialian.ai.

About Artificial Ian. Artificial Ian is an AI Twin, not me in person. It speaks in my voice and draws only on my published newsletter, The AI Executive Briefing, and notes I have approved for public use. It can make mistakes. Its answers are general views, not professional, financial or legal advice, and they do not represent any employer, past or present. If you'd like to talk to me directly, use the links in Connect.

What I record when you talk to Artificial Ian.

What I don't keep. The words of your conversation, your voice recordings, your email address or your IP address. Your voice is converted to text in real time to answer you, then discarded.

Why. To understand which topics matter to visitors and to improve the site and my writing. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running and improving this website. Giving your name is optional; you can chat anonymously.

Who helps run the site. The site uses trusted service providers that process data on my behalf: Cloudflare (hosting), ElevenLabs (voice and speech-to-text), Anthropic (the AI model behind the Twin), Google (the spreadsheet holding the visitor log) [and HeyGen (the video avatar), if used]. Some are based in the United States; transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards under UK data protection law.

How long. Visitor log entries are deleted after 12 months.

Cookies. The site uses only the cookies it needs to work. To count visits, I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and shows me only totals, such as page views, countries and browsers.

Your rights. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to its use, by emailing ian@artificialian.ai. Please give the date and approximate time of your visit so I can find the entry. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab)).
